Laser Application Engineer

Job responsibilities

As a Laser Application Engineer, you will be part of the application team responsible for applications on the laser machines. This includes the following tasks:

• You optimize laser cutting, cladding, marking and welding technology.
• You program the necessary cycles in the (Siemens) control system.
• You specify and validate the requirements for the CAD/CAM package.
• You are responsible for taking on customer-specific pieces on the machine.
• You are responsible for the training of customers and you ensure a smooth commissioning of the machine, in Belgium and abroad (mainly activities in headquarters in Lokeren).
• You are responsible for supporting customers in cutting/welding technology.
• You participate in the design of the user interface of the machine.
• You are involved in documenting the software for the customer.
• You work closely with the software team responsible for the PLC/NC part of the machine.
• You provide technical support in assessing possible applications for pre-sales and post-sales application-oriented problems.
• You perform testing and feasibility studies for the development of new applications and related solutions that may provide new business opportunities.
• You will work with the design team in the design and construction of prototypes.

Profile description

• You obtained at least a professional bachelor degree, preferably in the field of electromechanics and you have at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• You have knowledge of Siemens S7, knowledge of Tia Portal is an asset.
• You have experience with operation/programming of CNC machines (machine cycles, ISO codes are familiar to you).
• You have experience with machine programming and with “reading” machine code.
• Experience with laser applications (cutting, welding,…) is a plus.
• You have experience in using image, model and 2D/3D CAD files.
• You can work accurately and precisely at machine level.
• You are competent with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
• You have strong analytical, communication and collaborative skills.
